Consent & Overlay

Consent & Overlay helps you show a screen before the chat starts.

You can use it for things like:

GDPR consent

Disclaimer

Welcome screen

Once enabled, visitors will first see the overlay screen and then proceed to chat.

Click on the AI agent you want to configure

Go to Advanced Settings

Under Appearance, click on Consent & Overlay

Step 1: Enable Overlay Screen

Turn on Enable overlay screen.

Once enabled, the overlay screen will appear before the chat starts.

Step 2: Use Quick-Fill Templates

At the top of the page, you will see quick-fill template options such as:

GDPR Consent

Disclaimer

Welcome

Reset

You can click any template to quickly fill the content and then edit it as needed.

Step 3: Add Content

In the Content section, you can set up the overlay message.

You can configure:

Icon
You can choose a preset icon or type an emoji

Title
Main heading shown on the overlay

Subtitle
Small text shown above the title

Body Text
Main message shown to the visitor

Use this section to explain consent text, disclaimer text, or welcome information.

Step 4: Configure Action Buttons

In the Action Buttons section, you can add the buttons visitors will use on the overlay screen.

At least 1 button is required.

You can configure button actions such as:

Accept
saves consent and opens chat

Decline
closes the widget

Dismiss
opens chat without saving consent

Link
opens a URL while keeping the overlay open

You can also choose the button style, such as Primary.

If needed, click on Add button to add more buttons.

Step 5: Add Footer Links

In the Footer Links section, you can add small links below the buttons.

This is useful for links such as:

Help page

Click on Add link to add footer links.

Step 6: Configure Display and Persistence

In the Display and Persistence section, you can control how the overlay behaves.

You can configure:

Show close (x) button
shows a close button in the top corner

Remember consent key
stores the consent or dismissal state

Remember for (days)
controls how long the overlay should stay hidden after consent or dismissal

For example:

0 = session only

365 = one year

If no remember key is added, the overlay can continue showing every time.

Step 7: Save Changes

After updating the overlay settings, click on Save changes.

Your Consent & Overlay settings will then be applied to the selected agent.

control when and how the overlay appears

Important Note

Make sure at least one action button is added.

Without a button, visitors will not be able to proceed properly from the overlay screen.
